Students are happily surprised to find out how beautiful our facilities are when they arrive. In 1997 founder Zach McDuffie started the school by converting a small Costa Rican hotel. Soon the school grew and needed space to expand, so he custom designed a new addition. The new building's design has a tropical Asian influence and is filled with artistic details. Five different tropical hardwoods, bamboo, stained glass, one-of-a-kind ceramic sinks, mosaic floors, custom furniture, a zen waterfall fountain, and artwork throughout make this one of the most beautiful buildings in the country. The new addition provides a common kitchen and dining area (for all students to use), a yoga studio, digital darkroom for photography class, two Spanish classrooms, deluxe guestrooms, and a relaxing garden. The school has free Wi-Fi for the students, a small swimming pool, 12 guestrooms, and lots of great areas to hang out and relax. It is located in a quiet neighborhood close to the center of town and is just a few minutes walk from the beach, dozens of great restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and everything else you could need.

All of our shared guestrooms (double occupancy) have private bathrooms, air conditioning, ceiling fans, hot water, refrigerators, and comfortable beds. A fully equipped kitchen is available for all our guests if you would like to cook.
We will pair you with someone of the same gender and age range if you are traveling alone or you can request a roommate and we will happily accomodate you.
This option is a great value for budget travelers.

Relax in style in one of our private guestroom upgrades. This option includes all of the amenities listed above but you will have the room to yourself. These are available on a first-come first-serve basis so please reserve in advance, especially during our peak seasons (Dec-March and May-Aug). Most of the private guestrooms are located in the new building, which blends the comforts of a boutique hotel with the peaceful feel of a tropical treehouse.
Couples - We have guestrooms in both the standard and upgrade categories with full size beds to accommodate couples. Contact us for price and availability details.

Homestays are also available for those that wish to experience life with a local family. Students have their own room in the family home, with a shared bathroom. Rooms usually have fans, but not A/C. Breakfast and dinner, prepared by the family, are included. Please email us for more information.
