2014 Jungle Jam in Playa Jaco, Costa Rica
Posted by Jack Albritton on December 26, 2013
Next month brings the 4th annual Jungle Jam to Playa Jaco, Costa Rica. The popular event has expanded to 4 days this year and will be held at DoceLunas Resort January 16th -19th. This is a one of a kind music and camping festival that just keeps getting more popular each year. This year will be headlined by Slightly Stoopid, a band out of Ocean Beach/ San Diego, Califormia.
Also at the Jungle Jam this year will be G. Love & friends. Dumstaphunk, The Expendables,Kung Fu and dopapod, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Oteil Burbridge (bassist for the Allman Brothers Band) Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Max Creek, Zach Deputy and Ryan Montbleau. The owners of the School of the World, Zach and Natazha, are friends with G Love so we are hoping that we might get a little impromptu, unplugged session while he is in town.
The festival will be held on the beautiful grounds of the DoceLunas Resort but there will also be concerts at other locations in the area, which include beach front and late night clubs. Some of these can really get going and turn into one big jam session. It is a big mix of different types of music which include roots reggae, fund, soul, hip hop, fusion, jam and electronic.
Camping packages are still available for the 2014 Jungle Jam starting at $349 per person. This includes a pass for the 4 day event as well as safe and secure camping on gorgeous grounds. Showers, potable water and food vendors will be available for those camping. During this time of year there is rarely any rain and the weather at night is perfect for sleeping under the stars. For those who require a little more comfort, there are all inclusive hotel packages available at the Best Western Jaco Beach Resort.
The DoceLunas Resort has hosted the Jungle Jam since 2011 and they expect this one to be the biggest one yet. The resort is located right next to the jungle so don’t be surprised if you see wild life such as anteaters, geckos, scarlet macaw and monkeys while there. In addition to a 4 star hotel, Doce Lunas also offers a full service restaurant, a huge waterfall cave mosaic pool as well as a full spa and beauty salon.
Headliners Slightly Stoopid sold out venues all over this past summer during their “Kickin Up Dust” 2013 Summer tour. The shows mostly take place at night so that visitors can see what the area has to offer during the day. Catch some waves during the day or check out one of the tours in the area. Fly through the trees on one of the zip line tours or head down to Manuel Antonio National Park for a day tour. Maybe you just want to sit by the pool or under the shade and enjoy a cool drink while recovering from the night before. Whether you camp or stay at a hotel this is going to be a great party in Playa Jaco, Costa Rica. Chances are you will be making plans for next year before you head back home..
